Donations Policy
While we appreciate community generosity, the shed must limit the types of donations it accepts due to space, safety, and operational constraints.
Types of Donations Accepted
Monetary Donations
Defence Shed Wagga Wagga gratefully accepts monetary donations to support its charitable activities and ongoing operation.
Please note: Monetary donations are not tax deductible. As such, tax deductible receipts cannot be issued
Gifts and Non-Monetary Donations
At this time, Defence Shed Wagga Wagga does not accept gifts or non-monetary donations unless prior approval has been given by the Committee or a nominated representative.
This includes (but is not limited to):
Tools, machinery, or equipment
Materials or supplies
Furniture or fixtures
Electrical or powered items
Unapproved non-monetary donations will not be accepted.
Items We Cannot Accept
For safety, legal, and environmental reasons, the shed cannot accept the following under any circumstances:
Opened or partially used paint, varnish, stains, solvents, or finishes
Chemicals, fuels, oils, or hazardous substances
Items requiring specialist storage, handling, or disposal
Broken, unsafe, or incomplete items
This list is not exhaustive.
Prior Approval Process
Any proposed non-monetary donation must receive prior approval before being delivered to the shed.
Approval will consider:
Alignment with the shed’s charitable purpose
Safety and compliance requirements
Storage capacity
Ongoing maintenance or disposal obligations
Please contact the Shed Manager at dsww.qm@defenceshedwagga.com.au before bringing any items to the site.
Shared Site and Unattended Items
The shed operates on a shared site with other organisations and cannot guarantee the safety or security of items left on the premises.
Items left without prior approval, outside the shed or unattended on site are left entirely at the donor’s risk.
Defence Shed Wagga Wagga accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, or disposal of abandoned or unapproved items.
Ownership of Approved Donations
Once a non-monetary donation has been approved and formally accepted, it becomes the property of Defence Shed Wagga Wagga.
The shed may use, reallocate, recycle, sell, or dispose of approved items as deemed appropriate and in line with its charitable objectives.
Right to Refuse Donations
As a registered charity, Defence Shed Wagga Wagga reserves the right to refuse any donation at its discretion, even if prior discussions have taken place.
All decisions are made in the best interests of the charity, its members, other stakeholders and community safety.
Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed periodically by the Shed Committee and updated as required.
